New Astro

We are absolutely delighted to announce that, after a long journey, our new all-weather astro pitch at St. Olaf’s N.S. is now complete and open for use!

This is a hugely exciting development for our school and one that will benefit our pupils for many years to come. The new facility provides a fantastic, safe and high-quality space for PE, GAA, soccer, hurling, camogie, games, movement breaks and everyday yard activities. Most importantly, it gives our children an outstanding additional space to be active, play together and enjoy sport throughout the school year.

Getting to this point has been a significant undertaking. From the initial idea (through planning and fundraising) and finally construction, an enormous amount of work has taken place behind the scenes. Seeing the children finally running out onto the finished pitch this week makes all of that effort worthwhile.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to our Board of Management and Parents’ Association, whose commitment to the project has been exceptional. We are also incredibly grateful to our parents, families, local businesses, sponsors and the wider St. Olaf’s community. The support for our various fundraising initiatives has been tremendous and has demonstrated once again the wonderful community spirit that exists around our school.

A special word of thanks must also go to everyone involved in bringing the project from the drawing board to completion and to our staff, pupils and parents for their patience and flexibility while the works were taking place.

The finished pitch has transformed this part of our school grounds and is an amenity of which the entire St. Olaf’s community can be very proud.
