When we got into the hall everyone was really excited. John Boyne arrived in and introduced himself. He explained how he always wanted to be an author. One of the things I really like was that he said he never knew how he was going to end his books. I really related to that because I never do either!
When pupils asked him questions he politely answered with brilliant responses. He had so many great things to say. What I remembered the most was him saying that you could be anything you want as somebody has to do your dream job, so why can't it be you. His words were so inspirational.
He was really funny and honest when talked about the movie The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and how it only took him two days to write the story...well the first draft anyway. I thought that was amazing given it took us a couple of weeks to read the book.
He talked about how he went to St Olaf's and how he is still friends with people from his class. Finally when he finished talking he took pictures with the students and looked at our artwork. It was a great visit, really interesting and wonderful. I had a great experience.
