Hurlers in Croke Park

On Monday, our Senior Hurlers made history by reaching their first cup final in 19 years, taking on St. Pat’s Drumcondra in the Corn Marino Final at Croke Park.

It was a tightly contested opening half, with St. Pat’s holding a narrow 0-5 to 0-4 lead at the break. St. Olaf’s started the second half strongly and got the opening score to draw the game level. However, two quick goals from St. Pat’s proved to be decisive.

The Olaf’s lads never gave up and pushed hard in search of goals for the remainder of the match, but were unfortunately denied by a determined St. Pat’s defence. The game finished on a score line of 2-8 to 0-8

Every player from numbers 1 to 23 played their part and saw game time, with some outstanding performances throughout the team. While the result did not go our way, it brings to a close a fantastic year for this group of players, whose commitment, effort, and determination have been evident all season.

A special word of congratulations goes to our 6th Class players, who proudly wore the St. Olaf’s jersey for the final time. Thank you for your dedication and the memories you have created during your years representing the school. We wish you every success in the future.

Finally, thank you to all the parents, families, and supporters who travelled to Croke Park and created such a memorable occasion. Your encouragement and support meant so much to the team and helped make it a day to remember.

Well done, lads, you should be immensely proud of your achievements this year.
