Golf

On Monday, two teams from St. Olaf’s took part in the annual Castle Schools Cup golf competition, accompanied by Ms Leavy, at Castle Golf Club.

The girls’ team was made up of Mollaí Butler, Genevieve Doherty, Sophie Nolan and Isla Brownlee, while Zachary Sheerin, Michael Shorthall, Daniel Kennedy and Gavin Lewis represented the boys’ team.

It was an early start, with everyone arriving at 7:30am ready for a fantastic day of golf. The girls competed in a scramble format on the front nine holes, while the boys played a singles competition on the back nine. With the sun shining throughout the morning, both teams showcased excellent skill, teamwork and sportsmanship, playing some lovely golf.

Following the competition, the students attended a golf exhibition where a professional golfer shared helpful tips and tricks to improve their game. The day continued with delicious food in the clubhouse before the prize presentation ceremony. The captains of Castle Golf Club and the competition organiser addressed the students and presented the awards.

It was a wonderful day from start to finish and a fantastic opportunity for our up-and-coming young golfers to represent St. Olaf’s, gain valuable experience and enjoy the spirit of competition.
